Surfing Jaco Costa Rica is popular because there's cosistent year-round surfing. Jaco Costa Rica has several beaches with strong and steady waves. The swells can reach up to 3-4m (10-13 ft). Depending on swell conditions, surfers can choose long or short boards at Playa Jaco and Playa Hermosa.

Nearby are Puerto Caldera and Boca Barranca which both have lefts; the former a well shaped left and great when the tide is coming in and the latter a very long left.
