Samara Costa Rica is located about an hour south of Nosara and offers a beautiful nearly-perfect beach and a good reef for snorkeling. The crescent-shaped strip of sand is one of the most beloved beaches in Costa Rica. The reef protects the beach from strong waves and makes it safe for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. The waters are shallow and crystal clear.

Samara has undergone a facelift in recent years. Many of the expat residents and a number of the more cosmopolitan Ticos are investing time and money into the store- and restaurant- fronts in Samara. Samara has a nice relaxed atmosphere but is offering increasingly more sophisticated services making it a great travel destination.
On the south side Samara, travelers will find the best location on the beach. The surf can pick up before high tide, but this beach has the safest swimming in the area. There's a coral reef in the center of the bay and local outfitters offer snorkeling and diving to this site and other nearby dive sites.
Families can get surf lessons at a local school at the northern end of Samara. Kids can learn for reasonable prices and rent boards. There's also kayak rentals and tours offered through the C&C Surf School & Adventure Center.
Playa Samara is reasonably developed and offers travel and tourist services and accommodations, including a bank and Internet.
