Living in Costa Rica might be a bit different than in your home country. Costa Rica is ranked as better
than other Latin countries for many things such as crime, but it has its issues. If you hail from a former British
colony or from northern European country, you likely won't be accustomed to the trials and tribulations that are found in
Latin countries. There is a "red tape" problem in most, if not, all Latin countries. Dealing with red
tape requires patience and diplomacy (and often, money). And, although, most westerners believe that they can cope with these
issues, many find that it grinds on the nerves and, eventually, impacts the quality of life.
I would highly recommend if you are thinking about living in a Latin country, such as Costa Rica, try
renting a place for a stretch of time and test the waters before committing full time. Some people cope
better than others. Also, some communities are more interested in receiving foreigners than others.
Quepos is a little bit more expensive than other coastal towns in Costa Rica. You will need a better budget
to survive here, then other less touristy spots in Costa Rica. There are services, such as a school, Internet, hardware store,
groceries and so on.
The locals survive from travel and tourism. Many ex pats run travel and tourism businesses from here. One of the reasons to come here
is for the outstanding fishing.
