The Proyecto Montezuma is a volunteer program. This program is reputed as being highly innovative and dependent upon volunteers who are usually international travelers.

The objective of the program is to bring educational opportunities to local children and adults. The idea goes something like this: volunteers help educate locals.

Some of the courses that volunteers teach include art, music, yoga, and gardening. The hope is to teach locals something and foster a cultural exchange enriching both the recipients and the volunteer. Other projects include cleaning trash from the beach and jungle.

This program is headed up by two unique individuals. Kerri Bowers is a volunteer who has taught around the world. She formerly taught at an inner city high school in the USA. She runs the Escuelita de Ingles for locals and the volunteer program. Cesar Benavides is a Costa Rican who studied eco-tourism and directs sustainable travel, tours and adventures.

Proyecto Montezuma Looking for Volunteers

The Proyecto Montezuma is looking for volunteers who are interested in teaching, sharing their own talents and expertise, and who want to think outside-of-the-box and look for ways to develop sustainable programs to help the local communities.

Montezuma Costa Rica used to be a laid-back hippie travel destination that required an effort to reach. It's still a charming village but it is no longer a hippie-only destination.

The atmosphere was, and still is relaxed. It was one of the original destinations in Costa Rica where people stayed for long periods of time. The laid-back charm and easy-going atmosphere attracts travelers from around the world.
