Ocotal Costa Rica is a small attractive, grey-sand beach located 4-km (2.5 mi) southwest of Playa del Coco. There isn't an actual town here, but there are privately owned villas which are often rented as vacation houses. A quiet beach, Ocotal is a nice spot for a vacation and is only a short drive to Playa del Coco. In short, it is a quiet travel destination.

Ocotal Costa Rica Services are limited. There are several hotels and a restaurant on Ocotal including:

• Ocotal Costa Rica — Ocotal Beach Resort is a four-star beachside resort with the expected amenities of this style of accommodation. This resort offers diving packages.
• Ocotal Costa Rica — Hotel Villa Casa Blanca is an attractive villa with beautifully appointed rooms.

There are several beaches south of Playa Ocotal and these include:

• Playa Pan de Azucar: it is a white sand beach that's protected at both ends by rocky headlands. This beach is nearly isolated. There isn't any public transport to this spot and few people visit. The Hotel Sugar Beach is on the beachfront.
• Bahia Potrero: This bay is separated form Playa Flamingo by a rocky headland. There are several beaches along the bay and are Playas Preita, Penca and Potrero.
• Playa Flamingo is an upscale beach destination with a white-sand beach. A popular travel destination for sport fishing, Flamingo is frequented by an international clientele.
• Playa Brasilito has a grey-sand beach with palm trees and lacks resorts and big hotels. This might be because it isn't white-sand. However, the scene here is relaxed and there are budget option accommodations such as Cabinas Ojos Azules.
• Playa Conchal is located 2-km south of Playa Brasilito and is regarded as the most beautiful beach in Costa Rica. Its name is derived from the chells hat wash up on the beach and eventually become the white sand. The ocean water is an intense color of turquoise and is the perfect spot for snorkeling. Paradisus Playa Conchals Beach Resort fronts this beach. If your budget doesn't permit you to stay at this high-end resort, it's possible to stay in Brasilito and travel to this beach during the day.
