Montezuma Costa Rica used to be a laid-back hippie travel destination that required an effort to reach. It's still a charming village but it is no longer a hippie-only destination.

• Montezuma Costa Rica Hotels — Amor de Mar is on the beach and is a f-min walk from the town center. There are 11 rooms with beach garden, hammocks, shared or private bath, and safety deposit box. Rates start at US$60/double.
• Montezuma Costa Rica Hotels — Casacolores is close to Montezuma and has six cabinas for rent. All are fully equipped. There's swimming pool, gardens and lots of wildlife. It's only a short distance to the center of Montezuma. Rates start at US$75/double. In 2011, there will be hotel rooms available. Rates will start at US$65/double.
• Montezuma Costa Rica Hotels — Casa Sol and Casa Luna are two spacious houses for rent on the beach. Both offer excellent amenities and maid services. High season rates start at US$200/double.
• Montezuma Costa Rica Hotels — El Sano Banano and Yland Ylang is also a beachfront hotel with bungalows and spa. The bungalows come in a variety of sizes with varying amenities. High season rates start at US$140 but many are US$275/double.
• Montezuma Costa Rica Hotels — Luna Llena is near the town center and a hillside. Rooms have patios. There's a shared bath and communal kitchen. Rates start at US$20 per person or US$40/double.
• Montezuma Costa Rica Hotels — Mariposario Montezuma Gardens is near the Montezuma waterfalls. It has four rooms with air conditioning, fan, bath with hot water, satellite tv and breakfast. High season rates start at US$60/double.

The Montezuma Waterfalls are located just south of town, about a 20-minute walk from town. These falls make a terrific day excursion and are the perfect tropical retreat. Be sure to spend some time enjoying these swimming holes. There is an entrance fee associated with the falls.
